Entry For The Echo Base Forums Contest ~ Kyuzo Sith Lord

Posted in 30th Anniversary Collection, Custom Figures, The Clone Wars on June 15, 2011 by botwt

This figure is comprised of parts from the Clone Wars figures of Embo and Asajj Ventress, also parts from the Comic Pack Tol Skorr and the McQuarrie concept Rebel Trooper. The figure was completely repainted and then given a protective dull coat. Plus the figure retains full articulation at all his joints.

C-3PX Assassin Droid

Being that I really am excited by collecting The Clone Wars figures that Hasbro makes, I decided to make an animated version of C-3PX out of the 2008 CW16 C-3PO and some spare bits.

Dark Lord Baël

After seeing both Thor and The Rite with Anthony Hopkins in the last couple of weeks I decided to create a Hopkins Sith Lord from the Darth Nihilus and Odin figures. Really not a huge undertaking as far as joining the parts (as shown in the concept Photoshop image below), but the real work came in while repainting the Odin head. I wanted to use the image of Hopkins from The Rite (shown below) while he was possessed by the demon Baël in the film…rather creepy with all the veins popping out around his eyes and forehead.

I gave the head a black primer coat then painted his hair a base coat of Games Workshop’s Astronomican Grey which I highlighted up from there; his skin tones were varying shades of Dwarf Flesh mixed with whites to get a nice 3D look to the skin…then I applied thin blue-green “veins” around his eyes, forehead and cheeks. After those layers were dried I applied another very thinned coat of the flesh colored paint over the veins again to give depth to the skin.

Not the best photos…still trying to get used to my new camera. Hehe

Create A Custom Wookielover1138 Contest

Imperial Shipyards is hosting a “Custom Create a Wookielover1138 Contest” and I figured why the hell not participate! A very different idea from the typical contests where you’d create a Jedi or Bounty Hunter or what-have-you (not that I’m knocking those ideas…it’s just a really cool idea to create an actual Star Wars fan). Now, I know alot of people will be using the GI Joe Baroness head as a starting point, but I am going with a slightly different angle for my entry…I am choosing the 25th Anniversary Scarlett figure to work from and am going for the animated Clone Wars look to this project instead of a realistic version. I pinched the head, gloves and lower legs from that figure and added them to the Clone Wars Aurra Sing…followed that up with a complete repaint of the model.

Jenn (Wookielover1138) posted a picture of her tattoos that I tried to emulate onto the figure…however I could only do the neck tattoo due to issues with the flesh colored paint not wanting to play nice at the joints.

Now that this figure is completed I plan on donating her to a sick little Star Wars fan named Eli (he has Fanconi Anemia) that Action Figure Empire has been sending toy donations to. The thought that sending him another Stormtrooper just wasn’t going to cut it with me, so here is his very own bounty hunter Wookielover1138. Enjoy the figure little man and feel better soon!

Human, Togruta & Astromech Smuggler Team

After seeing several people use the Crystal Skull Film Indiana Jones head on some of their pieces I decided to pick one up on the cheap and use him to create this unique smuggler (or an aged Han Solo). I took the the body, arms and thighs of the Pirate Bike Cad Bane, the head of the Dr. Jones figure, the lower legs from the Clone Wars Eeth Koth, hands from Resurgence of the Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and a vest from a Legacy Han Solo. With a bit of repainting this aging starship pilot was completed.

His young Togruta co-pilot was created using the leftover body of the Clone Wars Asajj Ventress I had and the head of the Clone Wars Spacesuit Ahsoka Tano. Repainted her head and upper body and she was ready to go. When I repainted her head I decided to give her eyes the same look that the movie version of Shaak Ti had…all black, I think this gives her a more serious look. Also provided her a breather mask from the Legacy Han Solo I pinched the vest from for my human smuggler.

The R2 Astromech droid is a repaint of the Clone Wars R2-D2 in blues, blacks and some metallics.
