CW2: Clone Trooper (Phase II Armor) Review

Posted in Reviews, The Clone Wars on February 1, 2012 by botwt

So, I picked up two of the new Clone Wars CW2: Clone Trooper (Phase II Armor) figures yesterday and am impressed by the sculpt of the helmet, but the lack of articulation, this tiny hands and the scrawniness of the legs and arms when compared to the earlier Clone Wars Troopers left me bummed out. So I replaced the Phase I Trooper’s head with the new Phase II Trooper’s and I feel I have a better looking figure for my display. You’ll need to force the new head onto the stump of the old Clone Trooper, but once on you can move it into any position you wish.

As you can see, the proportions look off when standing next to each other. Plus with the body swap he now has full articulation (and no hole in his back where the rocket launcher goes).

So basically, the new Clone Trooper is cool, but looks out of place with the old Clones you’d have him standing next too. On a scale of 1 -10…I’d give him a solid 7.

Upcoming Clone Wars Boss Figure

Posted in Reviews, The Clone Wars on January 22, 2012 by botwt

Alot of people on the different message boards have been speculating whether or not the new upcoming Boss action figure in the Clone Wars line will have articulation at the knees. In my own personal opinion after looking at the two new images of this figure I’d have to lean towards ‘no’. I blew up the image of the carded figure and you can clearly see that the left knee is in the same position as the image of the loose figure.

While the figure looks stunning, I know that if he doesn’t have bendable knees and he ends up in my collection, I will definitely be removing his lower half and replacing his legs with another better articulated Clone. Here’s hoping that I’m wrong.

* Update 2/4/12 *

Here is a higher resolution picture of the Boss figure’s legs…still no definitive proof they are one solid piece, but it sure looks like it.

Clone Wars 2011 Wave 6 Preview

Clone Wars 2011 Wave 6 Preview:

Looks like we can expect a repack of the ’08 Jar Jar Binks with his Jedi Robe; Commander Colt looks to make another round in this wave so he should be pretty easy to come by for those who have missed him the first time through. The new figures are…Jedi Master Even Piell, R7-D4 (Master Plo’s Astromech), Armored version of Savage Opress and finally Chewbacca (Kashyyyk Warrior).

Wow, what a set of figures, I cannot wait till August gets here!

Seripas ~ Clone Wars Wave 5

Posted in Reviews, The Clone Wars on May 23, 2011 by botwt

The Clone Wars Wave 5 figure of Seripas has been something I’ve been looking forward to seeing and now that I have (in the sneak peek picture above) I am most definitely getting! I don’t think I could have asked for anything more out of a figure of this character…looks like Hasbro has done one hell of a job on this one! Now just have to wait till roughly August to get my greedy hands on this guy.

Botwt As A Star Wars Figure By AFE

Posted in Custom Figures, Reviews on May 16, 2011 by botwt

I was turned into a Star Wars action figure by ActionFigEmpire on Imperialshipyards.net. He created a whole back story of my character named  Lord Tormentum, previously known as Maximarr Botwatti before his fall to the Dark Side.

Lord Tormentum, a dark lord and high inquisitor of the Sith. Opporating in secret during the Old Republic era Lord Tormentum was tasked with gathering information for the Sith about the plans of the Republic and the Jedi. A devious, twisted man, Tormentum’s only sense of joy came from ripping–sometimes literally–information from his squirming captives. Once a skilled surgeon and Jedi healer, Maximarr Botwatti was seduced by the dark side of the force and began to twist his healing powers into methods of torture. Having become Lord Tormentum, he found that through the dark side he could control machines. Overloading their power cells Tormentum forces them to discharge great bursts of electricity which he harnesses as an energy weapon. Preferring bladed instruments, Tormentum often wields vibroswords and vibroaxes. He devised a glove made of cortosis alloy coated cloth with which he could hold any overloaded energy discharging machine or instrument. This talent, along with his lighsaber, and other insidious instruments and techniques are the tools of Tormentum’s trade. His hollow laughter can be heard echoing through the corridors of his secret chambers deep beneath the soil of Korriban.

I am very flattered that he decided to make me into this character! Thanks much brother, you’re the best AFE!!!

Testors Dullcote Review

Posted in Reviews on May 6, 2011 by botwt

Testors Dullcote is a product that I have wanted to review for a while now, but have never gotten around to it.

This stuff is simply the best dull coat product I have ever used. You spray it on in thin coats and it drys in minutes; no worries if you get too much on as it will not leave a white cast behind and you will not get that “dusty” look like some dull coat spray lacquers are notorious for producing. Not much to really say about the way it works other than fantastic! For those who like to create their own action figures it is a must have product as it will give your figure a much more professional look no matter what type of paints you use…so no more glossiness, which can really take away from the work done on a custom model. This stuff gets a solid 10 out of 10…price is great (around $4 USD) as are the results.

Clone Wars Ahsoka CW44

Posted in Custom Figures, Reviews, The Clone Wars on March 19, 2011 by botwt

I got my new CW44 Ahsoka in the mail today and to be quite honest…she is really a very good sculpt, and a really nice figure in general! We all have seen the photos online with her goofy staring eyes, but they are a simple easy fix. Also her head looks ridiculously large for her body, but not in real life…it really isn’t any more out of proportion than Shaak Ti’s head is. To corrected the issue with her eyes I enlarged her iris and then repainted the pupils. I also added a bit of shading above her eyes and under her brow to break up the area of orange skin between her white markings and her eyes.
