ARC Troopers Echo & Fives

Posted in Custom Figures, The Clone Wars on May 3, 2011 by botwt

I took Echo and Fives and combined them with the Phase II ARC Troopers that came in the ARC Trooper Battle Pack.

Echo’s head was swapped with another Clone as his head was badly painted, then took and added blue stripes down his arms and on his knee pads. I made the paint look chipped and then trimmed down the blue ARC Trooper’s pauldron to show the hand print on the chest armor of Echo. The pauldron and helmet were repainted to the same blue I used for his stripes and also gave the helmet a chipped look (actually just repainted over the stock paint job which already had the chipped look).

Fives I went a different approach with…he came in a two pack with Captain Rex and decided to use Rex’s body (minus his kama) with Five’s head. Then took the pauldron and helmet from the red ARC Trooper and repainted them to match the above photo and keep with Echo’s look.

Zabrak Sith Apprentice

Posted in Custom Figures, The Clone Wars on May 1, 2011 by botwt

I had a spare CW51 Eeth Koth and a Comic Pack Luke Skywalker that became my latest baddie…the Zabrak Sith Apprentice. I looked up Zabraks to see what skin colors they come in and was torn between orange and white…went with white as I didn’t want him to look too much like Darth Maul with hair. I also decided that his hair should be grey as apposed to a black, giving him a much more sinister look and it also afforded me the option to leave the blacks for his clothing and armor. The only bits I didn’t repaint were the digital readers on his arm armor…thought that looked pretty cool and it would have been a shame to paint over it.

Knox ~ Nautolan Padawan

Posted in Custom Figures, The Clone Wars on April 30, 2011 by botwt

For my Knox I used the CW23 Kit Fisto’s head and blue lightsaber, the BD06 Obi-Wan Kenobi body that I originally used on my Ima-Gun Di (Mark II) custom, and an undetermined set of human hands I found in my parts drawer…think they belong to the Evolutions Qui-Gon Jinn, but I am not 100% positive. Once put together the cool thing noticed is that he is shorter than alot of the other Clone Wars figures I own which gives him that younger look which he should have being that he was a Padawan.

Adult Ahsoka Tano

After seeing The Clone Wars episode Overlords I knew I wanted to make Ahsoka as an adult and with the new figure of her and the Shaak Ti figure she was fairly simple to complete.

Clone Wars Yoda Repaint

Posted in Custom Figures, The Clone Wars on April 23, 2011 by botwt

The CW14/CW05 Clone Wars Yoda is a very nice figure, but something bothered me as I sat here in front of my PC day after day with this little fellow looking on, then it hit me…his eyes. My Yoda had yellow eyes…my God yellow eyes (Christmas Story, Scut Farkus reference for those who missed it. LOL). So I repainted the missed spots on his hair and redid his eyes in a light green. I also made his iris’ larger and repainted his pupils.

Kyuzo Jedi Knight

I was truly inspired by Tokiravensky over on yakfaceforums.com, he made this amazing Jedi Embo conversion that I knew I just had to try to emulate. So I picked up a second Embo and swapped his head and hands onto a Jedi Evolutions Qui-Gon Jinn figure and gave him the Galen Marek scarf like Tokiravensky’s version has. For his lightsaber I melded two Kenobi lightsabers together like a double sided Darth Maul style weapon to give this Samurai like Jedi a different and dangerous look. Thank you Tokiravensky for your inspiration…you are a true visionary mate!

YAKfinities #40 Entry: Xastur ~ The Dark Acolyte

Posted in Custom Figures, The Clone Wars on April 20, 2011 by botwt

After making my tiny Sith Apprentice I was getting ideas together for creating another Sith figure, then the YAKfinities Contest came about and a Dark or Rogue Jedi was the subject. I would have liked to enter my little tiny Sith into the competition, but I needed to create one specifically for this competition so I created Xastur, a Dark Acolyte. I wasn’t sure what to call her but then stumbled onto a Sumerian Demon called Xastur after a trip on Google. Xastur is an Arch Demoness beloved of the Ancient Ones, it is written that only the unholy may know her…so unholy, demoness, evil, why not go with that.

For her parts I went with the leftover body I had from the Sigel Dare figure, removed her cape, added a mechanical left forearm from an HK-50 Build a Droid part, added a Cad Bane right forearm, used the upper arm of the HK-50 for some mechanical bits protruding from her back. I then took the breather thingy from Cad Bane’s head and drilled holes into her sides and glued this into place. This was done to finish off the cybernetic look to her as if she has had her lungs replaced. The idea behind the forearms was that she was severely burned and that the cybernetic parts were added in order to save her limbs from being removed. I wanted her to be human-ish so I went with the Clone Wars Asajj Ventress’ head and the Clone Wars Aurra Sing’s hands…that way she looks to be of the same race as Aurra Sing without the same head. For her lightsaber I wanted to go with a dual-bladed Darth Maul type that I acquired from the Episode I Sith Accessory Pack, but instead am using two single lightsabers…and of course I used the black robe from the Sith pack.

The paint scheme was kept similar to other Sith, Darths, etc…blacks, silvers and some greys. Her skin I repainted a blotchy white to add a scarred look and added tattoos close to the ones from the pictures above. Her eyes were painted the same vein as my Yoda Sith…red rimmed iris with a yellow center and black pupil, and opted to have one milky white as if it were blind to go along with the rest of her damaged look. There was a spot on the side of her head that was left over when she was removed from the mould and decided to paint it as a scar instead of trying to smooth it out. Finally added a flight helmet I made from the leftover concept Boba Fett head for her when she flies her TIE Fighter (added 6 hash marks showing her kills).

Darth Plagueis

Posted in Custom Figures on April 7, 2011 by botwt

I picked up a Tion Medon and thought that I could make a convincing Darth Plagueis from him. His head is ridged and needed to be smoothed out and also had to lower his mouth and sculpt a new nose from green stuff to give him a more Muun look.

Once the green stuff had dried I began painting his clothing in various shades of black. When it came to his skin I went with a pasty white/grey color scheme and set his eyes in a black and worked my way forward to a dark grey…almost giving his eye sockets a burnt look. His eyes were done the same as my other Sith…red rimmed iris with a yellow center. I also added armored bits to his robes…seemed more befitting of a Sith Lord to have some metal on his person. I also painted a Sith symbol onto the lower portion of his cloak.

I then added a custom built red lightsaber (created using a dual bladed saber and a tiny plastic skull, then painted it in bronze and weathered it) and of course a Sith Robe to complete the look.

Sith Legacy Darth Maul Repainted

Posted in 30th Anniversary Collection, Custom Figures on April 5, 2011 by botwt

Very cool figure, but the paint job on the head was just horrible. Globs of bone colored paint everywhere (one even on his chin), half painted black tattoos, teeth were messed up, and his eyes were abysmal. So I repainted most of his head and then gave his upper half a nice dull coat to have his skin not look so shiny, also provided a wash on the lightsaber hilt so it gave it some depth. Overall it’s not perfect, but loads better than the stock paint job he came with.

Darth Tyranus

I’ve always liked the Clone Wars Count Dooku sculpt, but didn’t much care for the paint scheme used. I wanted mine to look more menacing and evil so I repainted his eyes to give him that full on Darth Tyranus look about him. I painted the iris of his eyes red then added yellow to the center to give it that Sith look…also repainted the bags under his eyes a shade lighter and fixed up the paint on his beard and lips.
